A r b e Z Z e b r A T e a c h e s A t o Z helps young children develop Phonemic Awareness (PA): the consciousness that spoken and written language is made up of individual sounds.
Young Children will grow in Readiness Skills as they: SING jingles to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle memorize jingles to “read” the book alone learn to recognize capitals and lower case develop the ability to SPELL words sound by sound add letters before rhymes and after consonant/vowel teams develop basic kindergarten skills: phonetic, visual/motor and math practice building sentences with Volume 3’s word cards and phrase strips learn addition math facts as they memorize number combinations on math triangles show excitement about learning sounds when they ask, “Is it time to do our letters now?”
Adults should: read through The Manual’s Goals before moving ahead to GAIN an understanding of this system teach all sounds without adding “uh” to the end of consonants (B says “b,” not “buh”) help manipulate Volume Three’s word cards and strips into sentences help children develop the skill of building words with magnetic letters make sure children hear and pronounce their sounds correctly provide short vowel books to read as soon as possible point out the alternate formations some letters have select the BEST ideas to use for individual students have fun interacting with children as they respond develop a love for reading within each child |
